What We Do

 Patient Care

Interventional radiologists perform novel, image-guided, outpatient treatments for conditions related to peripheral vascular disease, dialysis, interventional oncology, uterine fibroid embolization, prostate artery embolization, IVC filter placement and retrieval, varicose veins, vascular malformations, adrenal vein sampling, hepatobiliary interventions and transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts. Our core principles are rooted in being clinically innovative and advancing interventional medicine in an environment that fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and delivers outstanding patient care. We are a faculty of 18 strong, with clinical experience ranging from five to 35 years. We pride ourselves on working as a team, focusing solely on the patient and delivering compassionate, world-class care.

 Education

We offer two ACGME-approved programs, Integrated and the Independent IR residencies. Both programs provide exposure to the full range of vascular and interventional radiology, exposing our trainees to basic procedures such as vascular access, fluid drainage and biopsies to high-end, leading-edge treatments such as interventional oncology, complex hepatobiliary interventions, peripheral arterial interventions and embolization. Our trainees get their experience at the main institution, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, as well as the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center and the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. In addition to their clinical service, our trainees participate in clinical research during their training as well as teaching and mentoring junior residents and medical students.
