Introducing Dr. Amy George: The New Program Director of the ASTP Breast Imaging Fellowship
Dr. Amy George took the position on July 1, 2025. She earned a teaching award for her section in 2024, collaborates on research and educational exhibits with trainees, and co-hosts a new podcast on the AJR Podcasts platform. She also founded the Pink Collective, which fosters community and empowers individuals through artistic expression.

Department of Radiology Partners with ‘I Am Abel’ to Promote Health Equity
I Am Abel is a Chicago-based nonprofit that gives underserved pre-med students opportunities to network and find mentors in the medical community. This year Northwestern has participated in two sessions. In the latest one, four residents gave lectures to mostly first-generation college students on the basics of radiology.

Radiology Research Day Showcases the Department’s Groundbreaking Work
This year's event featured 16 oral presentations and 12 poster presentations. A panel of evaluators determined the top three presentations. Mentor of the Year awards were also presented.

A Major Advancement in Segmenting Images Presented at the ICLR
PhD student Bin Wang presented at one of the most prestigious global AI conferences. He gave his paper on order-aware interactive segmentation which facilitates the segmentation of 2-D images. His technique integrates missing relative depth information.
