The women’s imaging research group focuses on the clinical application of novel techniques using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound to enhance diagnosis of patients with breast diseases. A major focus of this group has been the application of three-dimensional ultrasound to breast cancer diagnosis. Women’s imaging researchers from radiology collaborate with departments across Feinberg and Northwestern University including oncology, oncologic surgery, and biomedical engineering.
Feinberg Radiology’s research in women’s imaging includes:
- Automated whole breast ultrasound volume scanning
- Opto-acoustic technology for breast imaging
- MRI perfusion imaging of breast cancer
