Details

Northwestern Radiology’s Imaging Informatics Section is now accepting applications for its Imaging Informatics Fellowship. This is a one-year, PGY-6, program. The program will consist of 60 percent informatics training and 40 percent participation in our existing Body Imaging Fellowship. The Informatics training will include hands-on Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) experience, laboratory project participation, industry collaboration, and undergraduate and graduate teaching opportunities.

The department provides radiology services at Northwestern Memorial Hospital – a brand new, two-million square foot state-of-the-art facility in Chicago, Illinois. The department performs approximately 300,000 procedures per year and 95 percent of those are acquired, stored, transmitted, displayed and interpreted in a large General Electric (GE) Medical Systems PACS. There are 61 modality devices, including six magnetic resonance (MR) (plus two research units), six multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) , three full-field digital mammography (FFDM), and 15 computed radiography (CR), all interfaced to the PACS. We are a national show site for PACS.

In addition, the Imaging Informatics Section operates a 4000 square foot research laboratory, which is fully equipped with UNIX, Windows 2000, and Windows NT server systems, and a laboratory PACS environment. There are six full-time technical staff and numerous students, including two Masters level students.

Northwestern University is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer; members of historically underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Application Requirements

The program will be participating in the fellowship match for positions that start in July, 2009.

Applications for the fellowship are accepted until the position is filled. Offers for personal interviews will be made upon completion of the application, so we encourage prompt submission. Candidates will have successfully completed an accredited diagnostic radiology residency, be American Board of Radiology certified or eligible, and must be able to obtain a license to practice in Illinois.
