Northwestern Radiology and the Siemens Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Research and Development Team are pleased to offer TECH SMaRT – a customized magnetic resonance (MR) training program in cardiovascular imaging. The four-day course consists of both lectures and hands-on scanning of volunteers. All course content is provided under the guidance of Northwestern cardiovascular MRI technologists, Northwestern attending radiologists and the Siemens Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Research and Development team.
Advances in MR hardware and imaging techniques have opened new opportunities for cardiovascular applications. TECH SMaRT is designed for users with a strong working knowledge of the Magnetom MR system and Syngo MR software. The course provides in-depth and diverse exposure to all of the basic cardiovascular applications of the Magnetom MR system. Techniques examined include:
- LV Function
- RV Imaging
- Resting Perfusion
- Morphology/Black Blood
- Cine
- Aortic Imaging
- RV Dysplasia
- Myocardial Viability
- Grid Tagging
- Flow Quantification
TECH SMaRT provides a practical system of criteria, performance assessment, and feedback to assure that the quality of education offered to the technologist is unsurpassed in the industry.
Accreditation
TECH SMaRT is accredited by the ASRT for 14 Category A ECE credit hours.
Admission Requirements
TECH SMaRT admits applicants who have demonstrated a strong background in MRI physics and data acquisition as well as significant experience with the Siemens Syngo software platform. For technologists seeking additional instruction in these areas prior to application, we recommend attending the courses “MRI Applications and Physical Concepts” and “Syngo MR Software” offered by Siemens. Registration Information
To apply for admission to TECH SMART, you may either register online with a credit card or you must print, complete, and fax or mail the Application Form to the address indicated on the form. Your registration and specific course dates will be confirmed within two weeks of receipt of your application. If you have not received confirmation by this time, please call (312) 695-3737.
If you have not already paid by credit card online, the fee for TECH SMaRT ($2500 per person) is payable by check to Northwestern CARD SMaRT. You will receive a bill for this amount upon your acceptance into the program. If payment is not received within three weeks of billing, your registration will be cancelled. Participants are responsible for their own travel, lodging, and meal expenses.

SELF PARK garage directly connected to Northwestern Memorial Hospital is located at 222 East Huron, between St. Clair, Superior and Huron Streets.
Coming from the north on Lake Shore Drive exit at Chicago Avenue and turn left on to Faibanks. You will head (South), to Huron (2 blocks), turn right, go to the middle of the block, and turn right into the parking garage. Coming from the south on Lake Shore Drive go north to Illinois Street/Grand Avenue exit: go west on Grand to Columbus (which becomes Fairbanks); north, (4 blocks) to Huron, left to middle of the block make a right into the Parking Garage.
Validate your receipt at the Patient Reception desk on the 4th floor, of the Feinberg Pavillion for a discount rate of:- $9 for 7 hours or less
- $18.25 for 7 to 24 hours
Cancellation Policy
The registration fee, less a $50 administrative fee, is refundable if a written (via email, fax or mail) cancellation request is received thirty days prior to the course date. Please include your tax ID or social security number if requesting a refund. No refunds will be issued less than thirty days prior to the course date; however, you may transfer your registration to a colleague.
